Digital Literacy for All
This is a 30 hour short course delivered in small classes so our students have almost one-on-one tuition.
This program is normally delivered in either Term 3 or Term 4.
Digital Literacy is a taster course. It incorporates: Word (approx. 9 hours); excel (approx 9 hours); Internet and Email (approx. 6 hours); Powerpoint (approx. 4 hours); Create a Facebook Page (approx. 2 hours)
We require a minimum of 4 students to deliver the course and can take a maximum of 6 students. We will retain your name and contact details until we have the numbers to deliver this course.
Robinvale is home to around 50 nationalities, and since 2010 most of these communities have held a Nachos Day. The program finally concluded with a Harmony Day event in 2018. The Nachos Program showcased the cuisine (in a three course meal) and an element of that culture to the community for each community which generously agreed to participate. That cultural aspect may have been singing, dancing or video footage. The program was all about learning, acceptance and social inclusion.
Each event was aimed at people not only tasting the cuisine of the day, but learning some elements of the cultural mores of each ethnic community.Annually, as part of the program, an annual Harmony Day was held where up to seven of the different ethnic groups contributed either an entree, main course or dessert on the day.
We thank the many volunteers from the various Nachos Days who contributed their time and talent to provide a sample of wonderful food and some element of their culture to the wider community. We also thank the wider community who participated in this program over the years. At some events there were 100 participants, and the average attendance was around 70 people per event.
We thank the different funding bodies which contributed to help sustain the program with their support - the Dep't Immigration (Diversity and Social Cohesion) for the initial grant; funding from the Euston Club CDSE Grants; three years of funding from the R.E.Ross Trust .
